The entire concept of bringing pets to the workplace is nothing short of being revolutionary. Numerous benefits have been seen attached to this phenomenon. While the employees talk of higher levels of comfort and motivation due to the presence of their pets along with them, the employers boast of increased productivity and raised margins of profit. However, despite it being a win-win situation for both, a lot of people still remain dicey about the concept. And there indeed are valid reasons for them to feel so. The presence of other's pets may not go down well with those who prefer not to fetch them. Similarly, the organization may have to bear extra cost for provisions of pet food, maintenance and cleaning operations. Thereby, it is extremely important, that you make a wise decision in this regard. Here are a few Do's and Dont's you must consider, before you decide to have your pet accompany you to your workplace.

First and foremost, you must seek permission from your employer. Does the organizational policy permit bringing pets into the office? In case it doesn't, why would your employer treat your situation as a special case? This little check up, can surely save you a lot of embarrassment and denigration.

 

Comfortable to all

Once you have sought their permission, you must also check up with your colleagues. Would they mind the presence of your pet in the office? Ensure that you clarify your stand to each colleague and hear out their reservations if any. This will help you avoid conflicting or clashing scenarios.

 

Take responsibility for your pet

Before your bring your pet to the office, train it to be docile and subservient. A defiant pet is bound to indulge in aggressive behavior causing disturbance and distraction to others. Moreover, ensuring that your pet does not run around the office is your job too. So, claim first hand responsibility for it.

 

Keep them satisfied

One of the biggest reasons why pets create havoc is because they can not stay hungry or thirsty for a long period of time. Make sure that you carry adequate pet supplies with you in order to make them feel comfy and homely. The more they feel so, the less will they be likely to disturb order.

 

Get it medically checked

Though you may not be aware of it, your pet might be carrying a dangerous infection which has the capacity to prove contagious to other animals. So, get your pet thoroughly examined and medically vaccinated before you bring it along. More so, always carry a thick blanket with you. This would come in handy, in case, your pet gets involved in a brawl with a colleague's pet. You merely need to cover it up with this blanket and carry it away from the scene.

 

Keep it leashed

Keep your pet leashed as long as it is in the office. This will not just enable you to consistently keep it under control but it would also give the pet only a limited area to venture about in the office. However, you may unleash it while you are taking a break.
